Workshop Outline:

1) Rabindranath Tagore short story, "Living or Dead" (1916), would be told by the Workshop Leader, in her own words.  The Workshop Leader would also give a brief commentary on the story.

2) Workshop Participants would form small groups and do the following activities:

a) They would discuss:  What would you have done if you had been in Kadambini's position?  Would you have taken the same course of action she did, or might you have acted differently?  How could Kadambini have done things differently, given her circumstances?  How have things changed, and how have they not changed, for women in the 21st century?

c) They would do dramatic enactments, speaking as Kadambini, from her perspective.  They would give voice to Kadambini telling about what she experienced, and what she feels and thinks about it all.

After each activity, the entire group would reconvene, and Workshop Participants would be invited to share regarding what had occurred in their small groups.
